FC Helsingør has added the two young talented canadians Kunle Dada-Luke and Kembo Kibato to the first team squad. Both have been trialists over the summer and impressed the sporting staff during their stay. Both Kunle and Kembo have played at MLS club Toronto FC’s academy. Kunle Dada-Luke possesses both a canadian and a nigerian passport, and due to the Cotonou agreement between the EU and a host of african nations, Kunle doesn’t count towards the quota of three non-EU players in the squad on match day.
Sporting Director Matt Barnes is excited to welcome the two youngsters to Helsingør:
– As we began the recruiting process months ago, we targeted players who could bring some athleticism and pace to the already skillful squad that FCH possesses. Kunle Dada-Luke immediately set himself apart at trials with his speed and athleticism. Although Kunle has spent an abundant amount of time roaming the flanks, we think he will transition well to a right back at this level.
– One of the things that really excites me about the team this year is the ability to pair young players with experienced professionals, and I can’t think of a better opportunity for a young guy like Kunle to play behind an experienced leader like Ricki Olsen at right back. Ricki embraces the true meaning of being a professional and there’s not a better mentor for Kunle.
– As with Kunle, Kembo joins FCH from the Toronto FC Academy where he excelled as a versatile attacker. The 18 year old was offered a contract after standing out in the summer trials in Helsingør. I was immediately impressed with Kembo during his trial. He glides around the park and often times makes difficult situations look easy to get out of. His versatility will serve him well at this level as he can play a number of positions. He can play inside at the #8 or #10 and he is proficient at the #7 or #11.
– Kembo will bring some very creative attacking components to Helsingør, and it didn’t take long for our entire staff to recognize the talent Kembo possesses, and I was surprised that he was available as I think this kid could be special if he continue to push himself over the coming months. I think Kembo will find minutes early in the season and it will be an opportunity for him to shine.
19 year-old Kunle Dada-Luke has signed a contract for three seasons and 18 year-old Kembo Kibato has put pen to paper for two seasons.
